The third edition of the Cadolzburg Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event with a prize money of USD 15,000, continued on Thursday with the Round of 16 matches in singles and the quarterfinals in doubles. Once again, it was the Bavarian players who provided the highlights of the day at the Tennis Center Schwadermühle.

The standout performance came from 16-year-old Vincent Reisach, who followed up his opening-round win over fellow Bavarian Ben Ostheimer—his first ATP ranking point—with a sensational victory over top seed Nino Ehrenschneider of Berlin. After falling behind 4-1 early on, Reisach found his aggressive rhythm, produced a barrage of winners and forced the first set into a tie-break, which he clinched. Ehrenschneider responded by levelling the match, but the deciding set turned into a gripping drama. Despite saving a match point at 5–6, the Berlin left-hander was eventually edged out in a tense final tie-break, as Reisach sealed a remarkable 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-6(7) upset after two hours and 36 minutes.

“I was able to play completely relaxed today because the favorite role was clearly on my opponent,” Reisach said afterwards. “He served a bit better, but I had the edge in the baseline rallies and could apply pressure. I don’t usually enjoy playing left-handers, but I found my way into the match and with a bit of luck at the end, I managed to pull it off.”

Another all-German battle saw qualifier Sydney Zick continue his impressive run. The 19-year-old from Dachau defeated Marc Majdandzic in a high-quality encounter between two German youngsters. Zick took the first set with a late break, Majdandzic dominated the second-set tie-break without dropping a point, and the deciding tie-break once again proved decisive. This time, Zick kept his nerve to secure a 6-4, 6-7(0), 7-6(5) victory.

“I knew Marc was a very strong player,” Zick explained. “The key today was staying solid on serve and surviving his best phase late in the second set. Carpet suits my movement well, so I’m really happy that the win went my way this time.”

Sixth seed Max Schoenhaus also advanced with a straight-sets win over his doubles partner Denis Petak of the Czech Republic. The 18-year-old ITF Junior Finals champion dominated early and eventually closed out a 6-2, 7-6(4) success in 82 minutes.

Local favorite Yannik Kelm was unable to follow suit, falling to fourth seed Loann Massard of France, who controlled the latter stages of the match for a 6-3, 6-1 win. Louis Wessels and Calvin Mueller also bowed out, with Wessels losing to Sweden’s Nikola Slavic and Mueller, still feeling the effects of his three-hour thriller the day before, going down to Dutchman Daniel de Jonge.
