CADOLZBURG/STARNBERG, January 13, 2026
German players enjoyed a flawless start to the main-draw action at the Cadolzburg Open on Tuesday, with six home faovurites booking their places in the round of 16 at the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event. The tournament, played on the rare carpet surface and endowed with US$15,000 in prize money, saw a strong home presence rewarded with consistent and high-quality performances.
The spotlight match on the show court featured an all-Bavarian duel between rising talents Vincent Reisach and Ben Ostheimer. After a nervy start from both players, Reisach gradually took control with a more varied serve and aggressive baseline play. The 16-year-old sealed a 6-4, 6-2 victory in 89 minutes, celebrating not only his first main-draw win on the Pro Circuit but also his maiden ATP Ranking point.
2025 ITF Junior Finals champion Max Schoenhaus was tested heavily in his opener against Latvia’s Karlis Ozolins. After dropping the first set in a tiebreak, Schoenhaus raised his return game and mental intensity to turn the match around. A dominant 7-0 tiebreak in the decider secured a hard-fought 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(0) victory after nearly two and a half hours.
Qualifier Sydney Zick continued his strong form with a three-set win over third seed Matthew William Donald of the Czech Republic, while local favorite Yannik Kelm impressed with a composed straight-sets victory. Top seed Nino Ehrenschneider avoided any upset by defeating fellow former college player Christian Wedel in two sets, and Marc Majdandzic capped off the perfect German day with a resilient comeback win over Dutchman Mac Visser.
Play continues on Wednesday with the remaining first-round singles matches and three doubles round-of-16 encounters, as the Cadolzburg Open builds momentum in the opening week of Germany’s international tennis season.
