HONG KONG, January 2, 2026 (Media Release)

Four of the stars competing at the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open (‘BOCHKTO’) 2026 who are already in town caught a glimpse of authentic Hong Kong with a ride on the special double-deck tram themed for the tournament.

2014 US Open Champion Croatian Marin Cilic, and three of China’s best, the 15th National Games Champion and Runner up – Wu Yibing & Jerry Shang Juncheng, respectively – and Hong Kong no. 1 Coleman Wong Chak-lam, took time from training to travel on the tram, and passed through the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay, then passed the Happy Valley Race Course, before returning to their preparations for their first tournament of the 2026 ATP Tour Season.

This special-edition tram is a creative initiative by the organisers of the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open; it offers a mobile and immersive experience that allows the public to enjoy the tournament atmosphere at the price of a standard tram fare — truly bringing tennis vibe into the community.

With total prize money exceeding USD 780,000, four of the top 20 will feature in the 28-player Singles’ draw including world number eight Italian Lorenzo Musetti, world number 11 Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan, BOCHKTO 2024 champion world number 16 Andrey Rublev, and world number 18 Karan Khachanov. Asia’s challenge will be led by Wu, Shang, and Wong. Cilic is also competing in Hong Kong for the first time again after 2024.
