MONTEVIDEO/STARNBERG, November 15, 2025
Four seeded players will battle on Saturday for a place in the final of the 24th edition of the Uruguay Open, in which a new champion will be crowned.
With the defeat of No. 2 seed Mariano Navone at the hands of fellow Argentine Roman Andres Burruchaga, and No. 4 seed Carlos Taberner falling to eighth seed Tomas Barrios Vera, Cristian Garin has become the highest-ranked player remaining in the draw of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 clay-court event in Montevideo.
All four top seeds have been eliminated ahead of the semifinals, which will take place on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. local time.

Saturday’s Semifinals
Burruchaga and Ignacio Buse will face off in the first semifinal. The Argentine and the Peruvian have split their two previous encounters: Burruchaga won last year at the Lüdenscheid Challenger, while Buse claimed victory in the quarterfinals of this year’s ATP 250 event in Gstaad.
In the second semifinal, Garin meets compatriot Barrios Vera in a highly anticipated all-Chilean clash between two players who know each other extremely well. They have played four times on the professional circuit, with two wins apiece. This season, Garin won their final in Mauthausen, while Barrios Vera prevailed in the opening round of qualifying at the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro.
