CURITIBA/STARNBERG, October 7, 2025
Chilean Cristian Garin, a former Top 20 player, has been confirmed for the main draw of the Copa Internacional de Tenis – Ano III, an ATP Challenger 75 tournament to be held from October 13 to 19 on the clay courts of Graciosa Country Club in Curitiba, Brazil.
Garin arrives in Curitiba in excellent form, fresh off his third ATP Challenger Tour title of 2025, having lifted the trophy in Antofagasta, Chile, last weekend with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Argentina’s Facundo Diaz Acosta. Earlier this season, he also triumphed in Oeiras (Portugal) and Mauthausen (Austria). With his recent success, the former World No. 17 climbed to No. 107 in the ATP Rankings, closing in on a return to the Top 100 and reaffirming his resurgence after a challenging period in recent years.
A proven clay-court specialist, the 29-year-old is expected to be one of the most dangerous contenders in Curitiba. Garin has captured four ATP 250 titles and the ATP 500 Rio Open in 2020, all on clay, with career wins over several top players. Although he enters as the No. 9 seed, based on his entry ranking of World No. 125, his experience and form make him a serious threat to any top seed.
Garin’s participation further strengthens a highly competitive field for the 2025 Copa Internacional de Tenis, which will feature three Top 100 players and several of Brazil’s leading talents, including Thiago Monteiro and Thiago Seyboth Wild. Local favorite Joao Eduardo Schiessl has received the tournament’s first wildcard. The draw will include 20 direct entrants, three wildcards, and six qualifiers, with two potential special exempt spots for players reaching the finals of other events.
The qualifying rounds will take place on October 12 and 13, with main draw action beginning on October 13. The tournament offers a total of $100,000 in prize money and 75 ATP Ranking points to the champion.
