ANTOFAGASTA/STARNBERG, October 6, 2025
The Dove Men+Care Challenger Antofagasta concluded with a triumph of a home favourite, as Chile’s Cristian Garin was crowned champion after defeating Argentina’s Facundo Diaz Acosta in an exciting three-set battle on Sunday.
The third stop of the Dove Men+Care Circuit, held from September 28 to October 5, delivered not only top-quality tennis but also achieved its goal of bringing elite sport closer to the community, with over 4,000 Chilean fans attending throughout the week.
Thanks to the decision to offer free entry for the first time, the Autoclub was packed each day. The ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court tournament offered a total prize purse of $160,000, making it one of the most significant Challenger events in South America.
Horacio de la Peña, founder of the Dove Men+Care Challenger Circuit, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success:
“We are very happy with how the tournament went — not only because a Chilean won, but also because of the incredible turnout. Everyone came to support tennis in Chile. Events like this inspire more people to play the sport. Everything is already confirmed for next year, and it’s very likely that we’ll have another Dove Men+Care Challenger Antofagasta in 2026.”
A World-Class Final
After an intense week of competition in Antofagasta’s third edition, Cristian Garin and Facundo Diaz Acosta advanced to the championship match, which lasted nearly three hours. The No. 2 seed capitalized on three of his six break-point chances to prevail 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, delighting the passionate home fans.

“This circuit has greatly improved South American tennis,” said Garin after lifting his third Challenger trophy of the season. “Having tournaments like this in Chile is crucial — not just for me, but for all Chilean players. It gives younger players the opportunity to compete at a high level without spending so many resources, and to have their teams close by is very important.”
Runner-up Diaz Acosta also took positives from the week: “It was a very tough match today, but I’m really happy to be back in a final after a long time. It’s been a difficult year with injuries, but I’m starting to feel good again, and I’m very happy with how this week went.”
