As The Championships at Wimbledon enters its second week, the ATP Challenger Tour returns to Germany. Set in the picturesque Bürgerpark of the Braunschweiger Tennis & Hockeyclub grounds, the BRAWO Open promises exciting clashes between international tennis stars and rising German talents.

The draw was conducted on Saturday by Markus Beese (Managing Director of Brunswiek Marketing GmbH & Head of Marketing at Volksbank BRAWO), ATP Supervisor Andrey Kornilov, ATP Referee Christian Knabe, and Tournament Director Volker Jäcke – and it delivered some interesting matchups for the opening rounds.

World No. 53 Tomas Martin Etcheverry is the top seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court event. The 25-year-old Argentine will start his bid for a fourth ATP Challenger career title against Luka Pavlovic of France.

The bottom half of the draw is led by defending champion Roberto Carballes Baena. The 32-year-old from Spain will take on a qualifier in the first round. Belgian Raphael Collignon and Mariano Navone of Argentina round out the top four seeds.

Yannick Hanfmann, Justin Engel, Christoph Negritu, Diego Dedura and Tom Gentzsch are part of the German contingent in Braunschweig.

“We’re looking forward to a high-quality, diverse, and international field of participants, featuring many top players as well as promising German talents. It’s exactly this mix that defines the BRAWO Open,” said tournament director Jäcke.

As in previous years, there will once again be plenty happening off the court as well. Concerts and special events will continue to offer “Tennistainment” in Braunschweig.
