Three of the four have reached the semi-finals of the Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, No. 2 seed of the ATP 250 grass-court tournament, delivered a statement win on Thursday against Hamad Medjedovic in a tough, physical encounter full of momentum swings. The Canadian rallied from a set down to triumph 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, showcasing his composure and competitive maturity in the key moments.

Medjedovic, the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals champion and playing in his first grass-court quarterfinal, came out firing. The Serbian secured a break in the eighth game to take the opening set 6-3, dictating play with authority.

But Auger-Aliassime responded swiftly. More consistent on serve and solid from the baseline, he levelled the match with a commanding 6-1 second set. In the decider, he fended off three early break points before capitalising on his own opportunity to edge the set 6-4. It marks his seventh semi-final of the season and his second on grass following Stuttgart.

“It’s my first time here, so you’re not sure what to expect. But when you arrive, you’re welcomed really warmly,” the Canadian said about his reception from local fans. “The playing conditions are excellent, the tournament is very well organised. It’s been a great first experience for me at the Mallorca tournament,” he added, clearly enjoying the atmosphere at the Mallorca Country Club.

Griekspoor asserts dominance over Diallo

The day’s action on Centre Court opened with a commanding performance from Tallon Griekspoor. The Dutchman stamped his authority with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gabriel Diallo in a match defined by serving strength and clinical execution at crucial moments.

Griekspoor faced only one break point throughout the match and made the most of a single opportunity in each set to control both scorelines. Playing clean, aggressive tennis, he booked his third semi-final of the year — and the third of his career on grass.

“I’m really happy with today’s win. A tough opponent, who recently won in my home tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch,” the Dutchman said after the match. “I feel very comfortable at this club. I’ve trained here a lot — mostly on clay or hard — but it’s always a pleasure to come back. It took a bit to adjust to the heat at first, but today the conditions were much better,” he explained.

Michelsen holds firm in a tight battle against Bautista

In the most anticipated match of the day, third seed Alex Michelsen secured a spot in the semifinals with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Roberto Bautista Agut. It was a closely fought encounter from start to finish, featuring long rallies, high-intensity baseline exchanges, and plenty of physical demand. Bautista, coming off a semifinal run in Queen’s last week and several tough matches in Mallorca, appeared to feel the effects of accumulated fatigue at key moments.

Just 20 years old, Michelsen continues to solidify his place as one of the tour’s most exciting young talents. Steady behind his first serve and accurate from the back of the court, the Californian sealed the win in a tense second-set tiebreak.

“I feel really good, actually. I didn’t know that stat, so thanks for letting me know,” he said when informed that this is his third consecutive year reaching at least a semifinal on grass. “Grass has always been my favorite surface since I first played on it a couple of years ago,” he added.

A finalist in Newport in both 2023 and 2024, Michelsen will now take on Corentin Moutet for a place in the final: “I need to come up with a solid game plan. He’s beaten me once before, so it’s going to be a battle. I’ll have to come out firing on all cylinders and try to take him down.”

The US-American also acknowledged the crowd support: “There was a lot of support for Roberto today, as expected, since he’s playing at home in Spain. But I still felt a good amount of support as the away player. Hopefully I’ll get more of that tomorrow too.”

Moutet keeps French tradition alive and stops Tien

Moutet booked his place in the final four with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Learner Tien. The Frenchman dominated the first set and kept his composure in the second, where Tien saved two match points and tested the lefty’s patience.

“I’m happy. I’ve played many times here and my best result had been the quarterfinals, so this is great for me,” said Moutet. “I had to beat some great players to reach the semifinals. I’m very pleased, especially with the conditions and the level we’re seeing this week. It’s a good achievement. I’m looking forward to coming back tomorrow for another match.”

With the win, Moutet reaches his first career semifinal on grass and extends France’s impressive streak in Mallorca: a French player has reached the semifinals every year for the past five editions. “Every year there’s a Frenchman in the semis here, so I couldn’t miss out, right?” he joked. “I’m just trying to do things my own way, give my best. Let’s see how far I can go — I’ll give it everything.”

He also praised the tournament atmosphere: “It’s always better to have the crowd on your side. I try to feed off that energy to stay focused, play my game, and stay locked in. There’s a great vibe here. I love playing this tournament.”
