The first main draw day at the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN kicked off with a thrilling battle. After more than two hours of play, it was Fabian Marozsan from Hungary who became the first player to book his spot in the second round of the ATP 500 grass-court event in Halle. Marozsan edged out Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia 6–7(3), 6–4, 6–4. He will next face the winner of the match between seventh seed Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic and Jesper de Jong from the Netherlands, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser following the withdrawal of Hubert Hurkacz of Poland. A back injury forced the 2022 champion and last year’s finalist to pull out of the tournament.

Daniil Medvedev made a strong start to his campaign, needing just 63 minutes to dispatch Germany’s Daniel Altmaier. The match ended in a one-sided 6-3, 6-3 victory for the 2022 finalist in Halle. Medvedev will take on Quentin Halys of France in the second round, after Halys won the all-French encounter against Benjamin Bonzi 6–4, 6–4.

Even quicker than Medvedev was Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, who took only 60 minutes to overcome France’s Alexandre Muller 6-4, 6-4 . Bublik, who won the tournament in 2023, now awaits a potential showdown with World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy – provided the top seed gets past German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann in his opening match.

To close out the opening day, former World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece secured a narrow victory over Italy’s Luciano Darderi. In a match lasting exactly two hours, Tsitsipas triumphed 6–4, 3–6, 7–6(5), advancing to the second round after a hard-fought contest.
