STUTTGART, May 13, 2025
The BOSS OPEN 2025 in Stuttgart will feature one of its strongest player fields in recent memory, headlined by World No. 2 and home favorite Alexander Zverev. The ATP 250 grass-court tournament will also welcome two more Top 10 players: World No. 4 Taylor Fritz from the United States, who also serves as a BOSS brand ambassador, and Italian World No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti, who has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2025 season.
Joining this elite trio are several more high-ranking players, including US-American stars Tommy Paul (ATP No. 12), Ben Shelton (ATP No. 13), and Frances Tiafoe (ATP No. 16). Tiafoe returns to Stuttgart with fond memories, having captured the title in 2023 after a thrilling final against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff.
The current top eight seeds also include Canadians Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov. Auger-Aliassime, who has twice reached the final in Stuttgart (2019 and 2021), will be aiming to finally clinch the title. Shapovalov, a Wimbledon semifinalist in 2021, is also known for his strong performances on grass.

Tournament Director Edwin Weindorfer has announced the first two main draw wildcards: Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff and Brazilian rising star Joao Fonseca. “Struffi has a strong fan base in Stuttgart and has always supported the tournament, so there was no question he would receive a wildcard,” said Weindorfer.
Joao Fonseca will be making his Stuttgart debut this year. The 2024 ATP Next Gen Finals champion sparked excitement in his native Brazil with a title run in Buenos Aires in February, drawing comparisons to his idol, Brazilian legend Gustavo Kuerten. “Joao Fonseca is one of the hottest young prospects on the ATP Tour. Wherever he plays, he captivates the fans—and that will be no different at the BOSS OPEN,” added Weindorfer.
Fonseca is expected to play his opening match on “Super Tuesday,” June 10. Another young German hope, Justin Engel, will also feature at the tournament, having received a wildcard for either the qualifying or the main draw.
