Tennis Australia Press Release, December 22, 2023

Padel Australia, the governing body for one of the fastest growing sports in Australia, has partnered with global sports apparel and equipment brand Wilson through a new agreement with Amer Sports Australia Pty Ltd.

Wilson will become the Official Equipment partner of Padel Australia and the Australian Padel Tour. The Australian Padel Tour (APT) is Australia’s professional Padel tour which is hosted nationally across multiple cities for prize money and ranking points.

“We are thrilled to partner with Wilson to further drive interest and participation in Padel across Australia. This partnership provides us the opportunity to encourage new players to the game through initiatives and programs, along with the ability to supply the best Padel equipment to players,” Padel Australia Lead Callum Beale said.

“Our vision at Wilson is to create a better world through sport. Padel is primed in the Australian market to engage new and existing sport enthusiasts, and in turn provide mental health, and wellbeing benefits,” Wilson Racquet Sports Commercial Manager Phillip Watkins said.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with Padel Australia and the APT. We have seen the excitement build globally and through this partnership I am committed to supporting and growing the sport in Australia together with PA.”

Wilson and Padel Australia will work together on co-branded equipment for retailing and an official Wilson Padel ball to be used at APT events.

Padel was founded in Mexico in 1969 and has since become one of the fastest growing sports in Europe.

Played on an enclosed court with specifically designed paddles and balls, Padel is typically played as doubles and is easy to learn, making it a great option for social players. The rules are similar to tennis, except the walls are part of the game and you serve underhand.

The first of the 2024 APT events will kick off in Sydney from January 3-7 at Indoor Padel.
