LYON, June 17, 2019

Just one week after reaching the third round at Roland Garros, Corentin Moutet took the title of the Open Sopra Steria de Lyon. The 20-year-old Frenchman defeated No. 4 seed Elias Ymer of Sweden 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.

Moutet, third favourite of the €92,040 ATP Challenger clay-court event, broke his opponent’s serve five times, winning 52 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 50 minutes.

“I had to face a very good play. I lost to him here two years ago,” Moutet said. “I expected a big fight but I played my best tennis over the entire week. It was complicated at times, for sure, but I managed to meet the challenges. Now, we’ll have to go back to work tomorrow, and continue, continue to work.”

Moutet collects €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP-Ranking points, breaking into the Top 100 for the first time on Monday.

On Saturday, Philipp Oswald from Austria and Filip Polasek of Slovakia took the doubles title. The No. 2 seeds beat the all-Italian combination of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Pellegrino 6-4, 7-6(2). The final lasted one hour and 22 minutes.
