Camilo Ugo Carabelli continues his reign in Rosario. The Argentine, currently No. 48 in the ATP rankings, successfully defended his title at the Quini 6 Rosario Challenger, presented by the Government of the Province of Santa Fe, by defeating his compatriot and World No. 118 Roman Andres Burruchaga 6–2, 6–3 in the final at the Jockey Club. With the victory, Ugo Carabelli lifted his first trophy since winning this very tournament a year ago, making it two titles in two editions of the event.

The opening game already hinted at the battle Burruchaga would face on serve, as he had to save three break points. Ugo Carabelli soon took control, breaking in the following game and again in the seventh to move clear on his way to taking the first set 6–2 in 48 minutes. That scoreline also ended Burruchaga’s run of eight consecutive sets won earlier in the tournament.

The pattern continued in the second set, with the top seed securing two early breaks. Although Burruchaga threatened a comeback by pulling one break back to close the gap to 3–4, Ugo Carabelli won the next two games to seal the match and complete his Rosario double.

The triumph marks Ugo Carabelli’s eighth ATP Challenger title, all of them on clay. By successfully defending the 125 points he earned here last year, he will remain inside the top 50 of the ATP rankings, rising to No. 45. “I’m really happy with this week,” he said. “I came in with low confidence after three straight losses at the start of 2026. This was a very important tournament for me because of the points I had to defend. I might move to Rosario,” he joked. “Hopefully I can come back again next year.”

Reflecting on the final, he added: “Maybe the nerves about the chance to get into the top 100 affected Román, because he had been playing great tennis. I improved as the week went on, stayed calm today, and took my chances. Tactically, the slice was key to break the rhythm and take the initiative. I had to play aggressively because he’s solid on both sides. The wildcard allowed me to defend my points, but it also brought pressure because I needed them to stay in the top 50. This is one of the best Challengers I’ve played—the food, the hotel, and the organization are excellent, and they really take care of the players.”

The Quini 6 Rosario Challenger, presented by the Government of the Province of Santa Fe, is the only ATP Challenger 125 tournament in Argentina and one of the most important events in the region. Tickets for Sunday’s final day were completely sold out.
