HEILBRONN, June 7, 2023

Jaume Munar headlined Wednesday’s second-round action at the NECKARCUP by overcoming Timofey Skatov from Kazakhstan 6-2, 7-5. On a sunny day in Heilbronn, the No. 2 seed of the award-winning ATP Challenger Tour 125 clay-court event broke his rival’s serve five times and won 57 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 39 minutes.

“I started pretty well, went for my shots but I didn’t feel so comfortable in the second set. But I am happy with the fight and being through to the quarterfinals,” said Munar. “Yesterday, I had a chance to visit the city. I enjoyed it. Everything at the tournament is fantastic.”

Next up for Munar will be fifth favourite Matteo Arnaldi, who fought past German wild card entry Marko Topo 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. The World No. 106 from Italy, winner of two ATP Challenger crowns this season, capitalized on four of his six break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 46 minutes.
