López-Pérez To Meet Rola At Torino Challenger Quarterfinals

The top half of the draw at the €42,500 Torino Challenger was in second round action on Wedensday at the Campo Stadio del Monviso Sporting Club.

Blaz Rola, who knocked out first-seed Rogerio Dutra Silva in his opening match, advanced to the quarterfinals. The world number 160 from Slovenia was leading 6-4 when his opponent Matteo Donati was forced to retire due to a right leg injury.

Rola will face Enrique López-Pérez next. The 24-year-old Spaniard ousted Gianluca Naso, winning 6-2, 6-1. López-Pérez saved all of the five break points he faced, converting five of his own to prevail in one hour and 13 minutes.

Eighth seed Kimmer Coppejans rallied back against Stefano Napolitano 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The world number 171 from Belgium won 93 of the total 177 points played and capitalized on seven of his 13 break point chances to advance after two hours and eight minutes.

Coppejans will take on Filippo Volandri in the stage of the final eight. The Italian veteran knocked-off the tournament’s number four Stephane Robert, winning 6-4, 7-6. Volandri won 63% of his first service points and 53% of his second to seal victory in one hour and 18 minutes.
