Ymer Claims Second Challenger Career Title, Winning In Barletta

Elias Ymer is the champion of the €42,500  Open Citta’ Della Disfida Barletta. One week after turning 20, the eighth seed from Sweden beat third favourite Adam Pavlasek in Sunday’s final 7-5, 6-4.

Ymer withstood five aces, hitting two of his own. The world number 142 saved all three break points he faced and broke his opponent’s serve two times. Ymer sealed victory in one hour and 31 minutes.

With his second ATP Challenger career title, following his triumph in Caltanissetta last year, he takes away €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points. He becomes the fourth NextGen Challenger winner of the season, joining Taylor Fritz, Andrey Rublev and Kyle Edmund.

“Italy seems to be a great place for me,” Ymer told afterwards. “It was a great final against a strong opponent in good shape. I am proud of this victory.
