Halys Reaches Quarterfinals At Sarasota Open

One of the fasted rising young stars in US-American tennis didn’t last long in the $100,000 Sarasota Open. 19-year old Quentin Halys of France defeated Frances Tiafoe, 6-1, 4-6,, 6-4 in the second round. The match lasted an hour and 50 minutes.

Also Thursday, two US-Americans squared off with Florida’s Bjorn Fratangelo defeating California’s Dennis Novikov, 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 20 minutes. The tournament’s number six saved the only break point he faced and capitalized on two of his own.

Third seed Gerald Melzer beat James McGee 6-0, 7-6, winning 65% of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 33 minutes.

Tomas Lipovsek Puches emerged victorious from the all-Argentine-affair, winning 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 over Guido Andreozzi. The 22-year-old qualifier converted three of his four break point to reach the quarterfinal after one hour and 54 minutes.
