Coppejans Continues Good Run Of Form At Toulouse Challenger

Belgian qualifier Kimmer Coppejans continued his fine run of form this week by reaching the semi-finals of the €45,730 Internationeaux de Toulouse, an ATP Challenger Tour 80 clay-court tournament being held at the Stade Toulousain Tennis Club.

The World No. 292, who cracked the Top 100 in 2015, defeated 18-year-old Frenchman Luca van Assche 6-1, 6-3 in Friday’s quarterfinal round. Coppejans converted five of his 11 break-point chances to advance in one hour and 23 minutes.

The five-time Challenger champion will next take on Louis Wessels of Germany, who battled past fifth-seeded Argentine Marco Trungelliti 7-6(4), 2-6, 7-6(4) in three hours and nine minutes, the longest match of the day.

In the top half of the draw, local wild card entry Titouan Droguet reached the stage of the final four following a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Frederico Ferreira Silva from Portugal. The 21-year-old French, who lifted his second trophy on the Pro Circuit at the Torneo Internacional RST La Magdalena in Santander, Spain, struck 10 aces and won 76 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 15 minutes.

Up next for Droguet will be his compatriot Maxime Janvier, who ended the run of French qualifier Arthur Fils winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. The encounter lasted two hours and two minutes.
