Two Brazilians have reached the championship match of the Ano III – Brasil Tenis Classic, as Eduardo Ribeiro from Santa Catarina and João Lucas Reis da Silva from Pernambuco will go head to head on Sunday.

Reis da Silva, third seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 clay-court event hosted by the Recife Tenis Clube, rallied from a set down to overcome fifth favourite Ignacio Carou from Uruguay in the stage of the final four on Saturday. The World No. 468 converted seven of his 14 break-point opportunities to secure a 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-2 victory in two hours and 31 minutes.

“I came out of a very difficult situation. The key was to be able to keep calm to find a solution. I also reduced errors and the crowd helped me a lot at the end of the match,” said Reis da Silva. The 22-year-old could lift his fourth career trophy, his first since 2020 in Cancun, Mexico.

Earlier in the day, Ribeiro ended the fine run of his compatriot and World No. 1008 João Victor Loureiro this week in Recife with 6-2, 6-3 win in one hour and 14 minutes.

“It was a very difficult match, with ups and downs. I started very well in the first set. In the second my level dropped, as he improved a lot. But luckily I managed to keep myself mentally strong. I’m very happy with my first singles final,” said Ribeiro, 24, who is seeking his first title on the Pro Circuit.

Britto/Zormann triumph in doubles

In an all-Brazilian doubles final, Luis Britto and Marcelo Zormann defeated Gabriel Pascotto Tumasonis and Fernando Yamacita to clinch their first team title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

“We are very happy with the week. We didn’t lose any sets. I’m very happy that our hard work pays off,” said Britto.

“There were already four finals and four defeats. The nervousness ended up hitting a little there at the end, but thank God everything was okay. I am very happy with this achievement alongside Marcelo,” added Zormann.
