On a rain-affected Tuesday at the LTA Surbiton Trophy first up on Centre Court was a battle of the Brits between Liam Broady and Jay Clarke in the first round of the ATP Challenger 125 grass-court tournament. British No. 6 Clarke won the first set 6-4 against British No. 5 Broady, a former Wimbledon Boys’ singles runner-up. Play was then suspended due to rain which started the long delays at Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club.

Following a lengthy interruption the decision was made to move all remaining men’s and women’s qualifying matches to indoor hard courts at the nearby National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

In the ITF World Tennis Tour W100 event, 2013 Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki from Germany qualified for the main draw by defeating third seed Marcela Zacarias of Mexico 6-2, 6-1. Briton Eden Silva joined her compatriot Isabelle Lacy in the main draw.
