Elahi Galan Earns Sarasota Open Title

Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia captured his fourth ATP Challenger career title by lifting the trophy of the 2022 Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open. The No. 5 seed of the $106,240 clay-court event hosted by the Payne Park Tennis Center battled past fourth-seeded US-American Steve Johnson 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.

Elahi Galan had booked his spot in the championship match with wins over Australians Max Purcell and Jason Kubler, as well as Adrian Andreev of Bulgaria and Alejandro Tabilo from Chile. The 25-year-old Colombian struck 16 aces in the final and won 81 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in two hours and 24 minutes.

By winning his second Challenger title of the season following his triumph in Concepcion, Chile in January, Elahi Galan pocketed $14,400 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

Galloway/Withrow triumph in doubles

On Saturday, Robert Galloway and Jackson Withrow claimed the doubles title. The third-seeded US-Americans defeated Andre Goransson of Sweden and Nathaniel Lammons from the United States 6-3, 7-6(3). The encounter lasted one hour and 23 minutes.

Galloway and Withrow claimed their first team title, split $6,200 in prize money and earned 100 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
