French qualifier Alexandre Muller continued his good run of form this week on home soil by reaching the quarterfinals of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale ATP Challenger 80 tournament. The World No. 226 ended the comeback of former Top 10 star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France with a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 second-round win on Wednesday evening.

Muller withstood nine aces and broke Tsonga’s serve four times to seal victory in two hours and four minutes. Tsonga was playing his first match on the Pro Circuit since Wimbledon in July last year. The 24-year-old Poissy native will next take on his compatriot Gregoire Barrere, who won the all-French encounter with Lucas Pouille 6-4, 6-3 in 62 minutes.
