The ITF Future Circuit continues with the second $10,000 event as part of the Istrian clay court swing, held in the almost 2,000 year-old-town of Porec.

After the tournament’s top-seed Riccardo Bellotti had lost in the opening round to Romanian qualifier Bogdan Borza, second favourite Peter Torebko fell to Vasile Antonescu in Thursday’s second round action. The 25-year-old from Romania won 7-6, 6-3 in one hour and 56 minutes to take on Jaume Munar in the quarterfinal. The only 18-year-old Spaniard battled past Pietro Licciardi, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in two hours and 19 minutes.

Fourth seed and champion of last week’s tournament in Rovinj, Danilo Petrovic lost to fellow Serbian Ivan Bjelica 2-6, 6-0, 6-7 in two hours and 40 minutes. The world number from Belgrade will take on Porec’s number six Omar Giacalone next. The 24-year-old Italian beat Slovakian qualifier Milan Habrman 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in two hours and one minute.

Victor Baluda

Russian qualifier Victor Baluda cruised past Paul Wörner 6-0, 6-2. The 23-year-old capitalized on five of his 14 break points to finish the encounter after one hour and 19 minutes. With Yannick Maden, Baluda will play another German in the stage of the final eight.

Bogdan Borza is also still in the tournament. The 18-year-old lefite from Cugir continued his winning streak with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Croatian wild card Nino Serdarusic. Borza won 72% of his first service points to reach his first quarterfinal on the ITF Pro Circuit after two hours and 24 minutes.
