Petrovic Starts Victorious Into ITF Future Swing In Istria

The ITF Future Circuit has returned to Croatia for a four week clay court swing in Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea.

The first $10,000 event took place in Rovinj with top-seed Danilo Petrovic winning the ISTARSKA RIVIJERA title on Sunday. The 24-year-old from Serbia defeated second favourite Petru-Alexandru Luncanu from Romania 7-5, 7-5 in one hour and 46 minutes.

By claiming his seventh Future career title, his first of the season, the world number 378 earns $1,440 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.

Petrovic also claimed the doubles title, teaming up with Croatian Nino Serdarusic. The third seeds beat the tournament’s number two and all-Italian-combination of Omar Giacalone and Pietro Rondoni 6-1, 7-5 in one hour and 13 minutes.

The tour continues with three more $10,000 tournaments in Porec next week, followed by Pula and Opatija.
