M15 Brasilia BRA – Gustavo Heide remains solid in South America

No. 2 seed Oscar Jose Gurierrez set the all-Brazilian final after Peruvian No. 7 seed Arklon Huertas del Pino had to retire in the semi-finals at the score of 3-6, 0-3.

No. 6 seeded Heide struck 10 aces in the title match and gained five breaks to prevail 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 after about two hours. Following his title wins in Ibague and Recife, the Sao Paolo native celebrated his third career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour in South America.

I already knew it would be a very tough match. There’s always that nervousness about playing a final and that’s why I didn’t start so well, making a lot of mistakes. But in the second set I got an early break and I was able to impose my game more. I was getting better and better. In the third set only small things made the difference, so I’m happy for the victory“, said Heide.
