Constant Lestienne has captured his first title since 2018 by lifting the trophy of the €44,820 Alicante Ferrero Challenger hosted by the JC Ferrero Equelite Sport Academy in Villena, Alicante in Spain. The 29-year-old Frenchman defeated his compatriot Hugo Grenier in Sunday’s singles final 6-4, 6-3.

Lestienne, whose last triumph took place at the Slovenia Open ATP Challenger in Portoroz, withstood nine aces and broke Grenier’s serve three times to seal victory in one hour and 28 minutes.

World No. 258 Lestienne clinched his third Challenger career crown. He took away €6,190 in prize money and earned 80 ATP Ranking points.

The Amiens native became the tournament’s first non-Spanish champion in Villena. Veteran Pablo Andujar from Cuenca lifted the trophy in 2018 and in 2019. Teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz of Murcia was victorious on home soil last year.
