Anna Bondar completed a Wiesbaden Tennis Open 2021 double on Sunday as the 24-year-old Hungarian lifted the doubles trophy alongside Lara Salden from Belgium, just hours after winning the singles title of the ITF World Tennis Tour W80 clay-court tournament in Germany.
Bondar upset top seed Clara Burel of France 6-2, 6-4 in a rain-interrupted championship match. The World No. 174 capitalized on eight of her nine break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 27 minutes.
No. 3 seed Bondar battled her way to the final through the bottom half of the draw with wins over Italian qualifier Cristiana Ferrando, Romanian junior entry Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva, seventh seed Lucrezia Stefanini of Italy and Conny Perrin from Switzerland.
Bondar claimed her 11th singles title, the biggest of her career, and earned 115 WTA Ranking points. Burel pocketed 70 WTA Ranking points.
In the doubles title match, No. 4 seeds Bondar and Salden fought past Arianne Hartono from the Netherlands and Australian Olivia Tjandramulia 6-7(9), 6-2, 10-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 43 minutes.

“The spectators could see many exciting rallies. I particularly remember the four-hour match between Lina Gjorcheska from Macedonia and the Italian Bianca Turati, which Lina Gjorcheska won 7-6, 5-7, 7-6. I am pleased that many top-class players have found their way to Wiesbaden again. The interest shows the importance of our tournament,” said tournament organizer Rolf Schmid.
