WROCLAW, February 15, 2016

The ATP Challenger Tour returns to Poland this week for the second edition of the €85,000 Wroclaw Open, held at Hala Orbita. Wroclaw holds the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016.

Two matches of the first round were scheduled on Monday, when seventh seed Konstantin Kravchuk cruised past Adrian Ungur, winning 6-2, 6-3. The world number 134 from Russia hit six aces and saved all three break points he faced, converting four of his own to seal victory in 55 minutes.

Fifth favourite Mirza Basic, who reached the final last year, defeated Marius Copil 6-4, 7-6. The 24-year-old Bosnian sent down 11 aces and won 84% of his first service points to prevail in one hour and 21 minutes.

The tournament’s first-seed is world number 83 Evgeny Donskoy. The Russian is the only player of the 32-man-draw ranked inside the top 100. Donskoy is going to face with Kamil Majchrzak one of four Polish wild cards. The others were given to Pawel Cias (faces Aleksandr Nedovyesov), Lukasz Kubot (versus Hiroki Moriya) and Hubert Hurkacz (takes on fourth seed Lukas Lacko).

The tournament’s number two Dustin Brown is looking to gain his first win over Adam Pavlasek. The latter emerged victorious from the only previous meeting at the ATP Challenger in Rome in 2015. Third seed Jan-Lennard Struff will face a qualifier in the first round.

Defending champion Farrukh Dustov will face in-form Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who just captured his third Challenger title in Bergamo.
