POZOBLANCO, June 30, 2021

World No. 119 Benjamin Bonzi leads the entry list of the 2021 Open Ciudad de Pozoblanco, an €44,820 ATP Challenger hard-court tournament, to be held from July 19 to 25 at the C.D. Open de Tenis Ciudad de Pozoblanco. The Frenchman will be joined in Southern Spain by his compatriots Gregoire Barrere, Maxime Janvier and Evan Furness.

#NextGenATP star and World No. 255 Nicola Kuhn leads the Spanish contingent. The 21-year-old captured the ATP Challenger titles in Braunschweig, Germany 2017 and on home soil in Segovia 2019. Twenty-year-old Carlos Gimeno Valero, who lifted his maiden Challenger trophy in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, will also be part of the line-up. More Spanish players in Andalusia will include 2007 Pozoblanco champion Adrian Menendez and Roberto Ortega-Olmeda, who both enjoy playing on faster surfaces.

This year’s singles winner will earn €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.

The Cordovan town of Pozoblanco returns to the circuit this summer after having lost its spot on the ATP Challenger calendar a few years ago due to the economic crisis.

The event was played on outdoor hard courts from 1999 to 2012. Current World No. 10 Roberto Bautista Agut was the tournament’s last champion defeating Arnau Brugues-Davi in an all-Spanish final in straight sets.
