After a year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ATP Challenger Tour will return to Meerbusch, Germany, next month. The eighth edition of the €44,820 Rhein Asset Open will be held at the TeReMeer from August 8 to 15.

“We are in the middle of the preparations for the Rhein Asset Open and are very satisfied with the progress,” organizer Marc Raffel said earlier this week.

Current stars of the ATP Tour, such as Alexander Zverev, the two-time French Open doubles champions Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz, as well as Florian Mayer, Daniel Altmaier, crowd favorite Dustin Brown, Yannick Hanfmann, Maximilian Marterer, Albert Ramos Vinolas, Cristian Garin and many more played in Meerbusch in recent years.

Pedro Sousa was the tournament’s last champion in 2019. The Portuguese defeated Serbia’s Pedja Krstin in the final in the three sets.

“We expect another exquisite line-up at the Rhein Asset Open,” said Raffel. Dustin Brown will be one of the players coming to Meerbusch. “That’s great news, as Dustin is one of the crowd favourites here,” the tournament director stated.
