M15 Gran Canaria ESP – Alvaro Lopez San Martin victorious on home soil

Alvaro Lopez San Martin is the champion of the M15 Gran Canaria tournament, hosted by the Club Tamarasit in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The 23-year-old Spaniard battled through the top half of the draw, beating No. 4 seeded Timofei Skatov from Kazakhstan in the semi-finals in straight sets.

No. 5 seeded Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet booked the spot in the final with a three-set victory versus Spanish No. 3 seed Eduard Esteve Lobato.

Barcelona-born Lopez San Martin outpointed his 19-year-old rival in a thrilling championship match by the score of 134-130 to prevail 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 after more than three hours. The No. 7 seed, who clinched the doubles title of the Roland Garros Junior Championships 2015 and reached a career-high World No. 11 in the ITF Juniors Ranking, lifted his eighth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour. 

In an all-Spanish affair, top seeded Eduard Esteve Lobato and David Marrero Santana defeated No. 3 seeds Alberto Barroso Campos and Albert Roglan in the doubles-final 6-7, 6-4, 10-7.

M15 Antalya TUR – Jeroen Vanneste triumphs on clay again

Jeroen Vanneste clinched the trophy of the M15 Antalya tournament held at Club Megasaray in Belek. 

In the semi-finals with all top four favourites in action, the Belgian No. 2 seed edged out No. 4 seeded German Peter Heller in two sets.

Top seed Sandro Ehrat from Switzerland benefited from the retirement of No. 3 seeded Belgian Christopher Heyman, who captured the title in Antalya last week.

Twenty-seven-year-old Vanneste won seven points more in the title match to secure a 6-4, 6-3 victory after one hour and 47 minutes. The Roeselare native celebrated his sixth career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on clay court.

M15 Monastir TUN – Lucas Catarina captures second title in 2021

The Magic Hotel Tours tournament, hosted by Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir, concluded with the title win of Lucas Catarina. 

The 24-year-old from Monaco, who entered the main draw of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters by wild card for the third consecutive time some weeks ago, stopped the run of Japanese qualifier Yuta Kawahashi in the semi-finals in straight sets.

French qualifier Benjamin Pietri battled past Korean No. 3 seed Yunseong Chung, who was ranked World No. 3 as a junior, in the stage of the final four in three sets.

In a one-sided championship match, Catarina won 83 per cent of his first-service points to prevail 6-0, 6-0 in 51 minutes. The No. 2 seed lifted his ninth singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis tour, his second in 2021.

M15 Cairo EGY – Bastian Malla wins another trophy on clay

Clay-court specialist Bastian Malla triumphed at the Egypt Men’s Future, held at Al-Solaimaneyah Center in Cairo. 

The Chilean No. 5 seed advanced to the final with a three-set victory against No. 8 seeded Spaniard Jose Fco. Vidal Azorin in the stage of the last four.

British junior entry Jack Pinnington Jones, who is currently ranked No. 7 in  the ITF Junior Rankings, defeated No. 6 seed Carlos Sanchez Jover from Spain in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Left-handed Malla capitalized on five of his 17 break-point opportunities and lost two service games in the title match to claim a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win after two hours and 27 minutes. The Antofagasta native celebrated his 10th title win on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
