Brooksby To Challenge Kudla In Orlando Open Title Match

Local favourites continue to dominate the action at the Orlando Open presented by Nemours, as two US-Americans have booked their spot in the singles final of the $52,080 ATP Challenger Tour tournament held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

No. 5 seed Denis Kudla fought past Roberto Cid Subervi from the Dominican Republic 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the stage of the final four on Saturday. The 28-year-old Arlington, Virginia resident capitalized on six of his 10 break-point opportunities to prevail after two hours and four minutes.

Earlier in the day, #NextGen US-American Jenson Brooksby defeated his compatriot and wild card entry Christian Harrison 7-5, 6-1. The 20-year-old California native won 71 per cent of his first-service points and 58 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 31 minutes.

Kudla and Brooksby will meet for the first time. In his 16th Challenger final, Kudla is bidding to win his eighth title, his first of the season. Brooksky could lift his second trophy following his maiden triumph in Potchefstroom, South Africa in February.

Krueger/Sock triumph in doubles

In other action, Mitchell Krueger and Jack Sock clinched the doubles title. The duo emerged victorious from the all-US-American final with wild card entries Christian Harrison and Dennis Novikov, 4-6, 7-5, 13-11.

The encounter lasted one hour and 34 minutes. Krueger and Sock split $3,100 and earned 80 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
