Top seed Corentin Denolly claimed his eighth title on the Pro Circuit by winning the second event of the 2021 Istarska Rivijera, Croatia’s oldest international tennis tournament series, held at the Sports Center Eden in Rovinj.

The World No. 332 from France rallied past 17-year-old US-American Martin Damm 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the final of the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 clay-court tournament on a sunny but chilly Sunday morning in Istria.

Damm, son of former World No. 40 in singles and 2006 US Open doubles champion Martin Damm senior, had the better start and took the opening set after 35 minutes. Denolly, who beat Italian Marco Bortolotti, wild card entry Roko Horvat of Croatia, Pavel Nejedly from the Czech Republic and Francesco Passaro from Italy en-route to the championship match, gained the break in the 12th game to clinch the second set.

The 23-year-old lefty broke Damm’s serve to start the final set and from then on never looked back to secure victory in one hour and 54 minutes.

On Saturday, Marco Bortolotti of Italy and Victor Vlad Cornea from Romania captured the doubles title. The top seeds edged past Croatian wild card entries Zvonimir Babic and Josip Krstanovic 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. The encounter lasted one hour and 16 minutes.
