Federico Delbonis has advanced to the quarterfinals of the €132,280 Internazionali Di Tennis Emilia Romagna following a comfortable 6-1, 6-4 win over Italian veteran Paolo Lorenzi on Thursday afternoon at the Tennis Club President in Parma, Italy.
The No. 4 seed from Argentina converted four of his 14 break point opportunities to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes. Delbonis will next take on Italian wild card entry Marco Cecchinato, who edged past No. 6 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber from Germany 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 24 minutes.
In the bottom half of the draw of the ATP Challenger clay-court event, Juan Pablo Ficovich of Argentina defeated US-American Mitchell Krueger 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 34 minutes. The 23-year-old lucky loser will meet Alexei Popyrin in the stage of the final eight. The World no. 108 from Australia beat Frenchman Alexandre Muller 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 17 minutes.
