Stan Wawrinka is the first champion of the re-start on the ATP Challenger Tour, winning the € 137,560 I.CLTK Prague Open 2020 by Moneta. The top seed from Switzerland defeated Aslan Karatsev of Russia 7-6(2), 6-4 in Saturday’s singles final.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd on Stvanice island in Prague, Wawrinka fired 10 aces and won 90 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in one hour and 44 minutes.
“I am very happy,” the World No. 17 said after his first match win in straight sets this week. “I think it was the best match of the week. The level was good. I served well and I am happy to get the trophy today.”
By lifting his seventh ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since winning on home soil in Lugano 10 years ago, Wawrinka earned €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
He will return to the top 15 on Monday and will continue his journey in the Czech Republic by competing in the RPM Open by Monteta Challenger event at TK Spoje Praha next week.

Later in the day, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Arthur Rinderknech captured the doubles title. The unseeded Frenchmen beat the all-Czech combination of Zdenek Kolar and Lukas Rosol 6-3, 6-4. The final lasted 69 minutes. Herbert and Rinderknech split €7,870 in prize money.
