STARNBERG, July 3, 2020

With the Play In Challenger Lille and the Internationaux de Tennis de Vendée, two ATP Challenger Tour events in France cancelled their 2020 editions.

The tournament in Lille was originally scheduled for March 23 to 29. In April there was still hope to host this year’s tennis event later in the year. “Due to too strong uncertainties which are still present today concerning the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and given very strict sanitary measures imposed by the ATP, we are deeply sad to announce that the 2020 edition of the Play In Challenger will not be held,” organizers of the €69,280 indoor hard-court event stated on their official website.

The tournament will return next year to be held at the Tennis Club Lillois Lille Metropole on March 22 to 28, 2021.

The Internationaux de Tennis de Vendée in Mouilleron-Le-Captif is not going to take place this year either. The tournament was scheduled for October 5 to 11, 2020 at Vendéspace.

“The idea is to start all over again in 2021. Our partners are loyal, like the Department of Vendée, BNP Paribas, the Dubreuil Group, but also the hundreds of companies that support us each year. The tournament is well managed and its sustainability is not threatened,” the organizers stated in a press release.
