Top-Seed Knocked Out, Other Favourites Reach Quarterfinals At Ortisei Raiffeisen Future

The favourites at the US-$ 10,000 Raiffeisen ITF Future in Ortisei advanced to the quarterfinals. In Thursday’s second round matches second seed Xenia Knoll from Switzerland defeated German qualifier Caroline Werner, winning 6-1, 6-3 in one hour and 19 minutes. Knoll will take on Anna Klasen next, who beat Ylena In-Albon 7-6, 6-4.

Third seed Georgia Brescia from Italy ousted Claire Feuerstein from France, winning 6-2, 6-2 in 66 minutes. Brescia will face her compatriot Martina Di Giuseppe next, who emerged victourious from another all-Italian-affair against qualifier Angelica Moratelli, winning 6-4, 7-5.

Only top seed Rebecca Sramkova was knocked out. The world number 321 from Slovakia lost her second round match against Adrijana Lekaj from Croatia 2-6, 2-6 in one hour and 12 minutes. Lekaj will now face the winner of the encounter between Julia Thiem and Gaia Sanesi.
