Locals Verena Hofer and Jasmin Ladurner lost in the opening round at the US-$ 10,000 Raiffeisen ITF Future in Ortisei.

Italian qualifier Anna Turco defeated Hofer, winning 7-5, 6-4 in one hour and 39 minutes. Ladurner lost to her compatriot and eighth seed Gaia Sanesi 6-7, 1-6 after one hour and 22 minutes.

Top seed Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia advanced to the second round, winning 6-2, 6-3 against Oliwia Szymczuch. The match lasted only 59 minutes.
