CALGARY, March 2, 2020

For a second straight week, World No.191 Maxime Cressy of the United States went head-to-head against World No.206 Arthur Rinderknech of France at a Canadian Challenger. After colliding in the final of the Drummondville National Bank Challenger last week, the two ran into each other again in Sunday’s title match at the second edition of the Calgary National Bank Challenger.

After losing to Cressy just a week ago, Rinderknech got his revenge with a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 win in front of a sold-out at the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre in Calgary.

Cressy broke Rinderknech early on to gain a 3-0 lead. The break was enough to secure the first set for the US-American, who still had to fight off four break points. Rinderknech got off to a stronger start in the second. Though he wasn’t able to capitalize on his six chances to break, he still managed to win the tiebreak and force a third set. Keeping the momentum going in the final act, he broke his opponent and claimed victory after two hours and six minutes.

Paris-born Rinderknech, who played on the NCAA circuit, was competing in his third final of the season. The 24-year-old triumphed at the Open Blot Rennes in France a few weeks ago and at the Drummondville Challenger last week.

The 24-year-old took away from Canada $10,800 in prize money as well as 90 ATP Ranking points and is up to a career-high World No. 160.

Schnur/Pasha take doubles title

Max Schnur and Nathan Pasha of the United States took the doubles title. The No. 3 seeds defeated Canadian Filip Peliwo and Australian Harry Bourchier 7-6(4), 6-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 13 minutes.
