VALENCIA, September 29, 2015

The Valencia Open announced the official list of players, who will participate at this year’s 13th edition taking place from October 24 to November 1.

Eight of the top-30-players will come to Spain’s third biggest city. Six local players can be found in the entry list, which is led by current world number eight David Ferrer. The 33-year-old from Javea captured the title in Valencia three times, winning in 2008, 2010 and 2012. He will be joined by fellow-Spaniards Tommy Robredo, Feliciano López, Fernando Verdasco, Roberto Bautista-Agut and Guillermo Garcia-López. World number 21 Bernard Tomic, Fabio Fognini and Jeremy Chardy top the list of foreign players.

Tournament director Juan Carlos Ferrero is satisfied with the line-up of players: “We can present a list of great players this year. We will enjoy a great level of tennis taking place at a unique venue within the City of Arts and Sciences. It is also wonderful that so many Spanish players prefer playing in front of their friends and families in Valencia instead of choosing to play another big tournament this week in the calendar,” he told.

After six editions disputed as ATP World Tour 500 event, this year’s tournament returns to the category 250 with a total prize money of € 537,000. Concerning the venue, another change is going to take place this year. Due to a recent report by the Generalitat Valenciana, it is not possible to locate the Centre Court of the Valencia Open inside the Ágora building, as this has been the case since 2009. Only for this year, the Centre Court will be located in an indoor facility to be placed provisionally and especially for this occasion. It will have a capacity of 3,500 seats and will be located a few metres away from the Ágora building.

“It has always been our priority that the tournament is taking place inside the Ágora. It has become a symbol, which helped to project the image of the tournament and Valencia all over the world. Our goal will be to return to play inside the Ágora in 2016,” Ferrero stated.

Due to reduced capacity of nearly half of the seats as usual, the number of tickets on sale will be more limited than ever. Ticket prices will be in reach of every budget. The Fun Park, with a lot of entertainment as well as catering facilities, can again be entered free of charge.
