Lorenzo Musetti moved to the last four at the Aspira Tennis Cup Trofeo BCS in Milan, joining Jannik Sinner and Giulio Zeppieri as 17-year-old Italians to reach a semi-final this year. The wild card entry defeated Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador 7-6(4), 6-2 on Friday afternoon.

Musetti broke his opponent’s serve five times to advance in one hour and 38 minutes.

“I always thought that Lorenzo was the better player,” his coach Simone Tartarini said. “Arevalo serves well with a lot of variety in his shots. He needed some time to find the right position on his return games. As soon as he found it, he was in control of the match.”

Next up for the teenager will be top seed Hugo Dellien. The World No. 93 from Bolivia edged our Spanish veteran Tommy Robredo, winning 6-2, 6-3. Dellien secured victory in one hour and 17 minutes.

Later in the evening No. 8 seed Sumit Nagal beat Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev 6-4, 7-6(4) after two hours and 12 minutes. The 21-year-old from India will face Danilo Petrovic of Serbia in the semis, who outpointed Frederico Ferreira Silva from Portugal 64-49 in one hour and 31 minutes.
