ILKLEY, June 23, 2019

Dennis Novak and Dominik Koepfer advanced to the Ilkley Trophy singles final. Novak fought past No. 10 seed Kamil Majchrzak of Poland 6-7(1), 7-6(3), 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club.

The No. 9 seed from Austria fired 15 aces, winning 77 per cent of his first service points to prevail after two hours and four minutes.

Earlier in the day, Koepfer remained untroubled in his match against Go Soeda of Japan. The 25-year-old German saved all three break points he faced, converting four of his own seven chances to secure a 6-4, 6-1 victory in 62 minutes.

Koepfer is seeking his maiden Challenger crown in singles. Novak could lift his second trophy following his title win at the Taiwan Santaizi Challenger in April this year. The pair will meet for the first time.

Gonzalez/Qureshi win doubles title

Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Aisam-Al-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan took the doubles title. The top seeds of the €137,560 ATP Challenger 125 grass-court event defeated No. 2 seeds Marcus Daniell from New Zealand and Leander Paes of India 6-3, 6-4. The final lasted one hour.

It was the third team title for Gonzalez and Qureshi this season, their second in a row following their triumph in Nottingham last week.
