LONDON, June 20, 2019

Juan Martin Del Potro has been forced to withdraw from the Fever-Tree Championships due to a right knee injury. This was announced on Wednesday evening.

The 30-year-old Argentine won his first-round match at The Queen’s Club against Canadian Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 6-4 but  slipped near the net in the eighth game of the second set and hurt his knee.

“It is a great shame that Juan Martin has been forced to withdraw,” said tournament director Stephen Farrow, as quoted on the ATP Tour website. “The crowd loves him here, just as they do all over the world. We wish him a full and speedy recovery, and hope to see him back here next year.”

Del Potro’s second-round opponent Feliciano Lopez of Spain received a walkover into the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 grass-court event.
