Andrej Martin defeats Stefano Travaglia for his second Shymkent Challenger title

SHYMKENT, June 16, 2019

Andrej Martin continued his good of form this season, winning his third ATP Challenger title in 2019. The 29-year-old from Slovakia defeated No. 2 seeded Italian Stefano Travaglia in Sunday’s singles final of the $54,160 Shymkent II Challenger held on clay at National Tennis Center.

Martin saved three of the five break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own 12 chances to seal victory in one hour and 44 minutes. The No. 3 seed took away from Kazakhstan $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points. Martin lifted the trophy in Nanchang, China and also clinched the title at the first Shymkent Challenger in May.

On Saturday, Nikola Cacic of Serbia and Tsung-Hua Yang from Taiwan took the doubles crowns. The pair defeated Andre Goransson of Sweden and Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-4, 6-4 in the final between two unseeded teams. The encounter lasted one hour and 13 minutes.
