Favourites Move On At Karlsruhe Open

No. 6 seed of the Karlsruhe Open: Geoffrey Blancaneaux

KARLSRUHE, June 7, 2019

Top seed Julian Lenz remained untroubled to reach the quarterfinals of the Karlsruhe Open. The World No. 377 from Germany defeated Swedish qualifier Christian Lindell 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.

Lenz capitalized on three of his six break point chances to advance in one hour and 25 minutes. Next up for the 26-year-old will be Gonzalo Villanueva from Argentina, who defeated German wild card entry Bastien Presuhn 6-3, 6-1.

The No. 2 of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event also made it into the stage of the final eight. Andrea Pellegrino eased past lucky loser Christoph Negritu of Germany, winning 6-2, 6-0 in one hour and 14 minutes. The 22-year-old Italian will next take on fifth seeded Frenchman Manuel Guinard.
