Carreno-Busta to tangle with Riba in Copa Sevilla’s quarters

SEVILLE, September 9, 2015

The entire second round of the Copa Sevilla € 42,500 ATP Challenger took place on Wednesday at the Real Club de Tenis.

Top-seed Pablo Carreῆo-Busta beat Axel Michon, winning 7-6, 6-3. The world number 54 from Spain didn’t face a break point and won 86% of his first service points to advance after one hour and 45 minutes.

Carreῆo-Busta will play with Pere Riba a fellow countryman in the next round. The 27-year-old Spaniard beat Flavio Cipolla in 74 minutes 6-1, 6-4. Carreῆo-Busta and Riba will meet for the second time on the tour, with the latter leading 1-0 in head to head records.

Third favourite Iῆigo Cervantes defeated Maxime Teixeira, winning 7-6, 6-4. The world number 112 from Spain fired six aces and won 80% of his first service points to close the match after one hour and 43 minutes.

Cervantes will take on sixth seed Renzo Olivo next. The 23-year-old Argentine dismissed Lamine Ouahab, winning 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 44 minutes.

With Pedro Cachin, another Argentine advanced to the quarterfinals. The 20-year-old, who knocked out second seed Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the opening round, overcame Dutch qualifier Matwe Middelkoop in one hour and 38 minutes through a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory. Cachin served 10 aces and converted five of his six break points.

The world number 248 will take on Miljan Zekic, who defeated Spanish veteran Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo in straight sets. The 27-year-old Serbian capitalized on four of his seven break point opportunities to reach the stage of the final eight after one hour and 24 minutes.

Eighth seed Jordi Samper-Montana advances to the quarterfinals without dropping a set. The 25-year-old from Barcelona emerged victorious from the all-Spanish-affair with David Perez-Sanz, winning 6-1, 7-6 in 90 minutes.

Samper-Montana will meet Kamil Majchrzak. The only 19-year-old Polish defeated Spanish qualifier David Vega Hernandez with 6-4, 6-1 in one hour and 25 minutes to reach his second quarterfinals on the ATP Challenger Tour, after he had reached this stage in Szczecin last year.
