Maria Sakkari captured her first WTA Tour trophy on Saturday in an all-StarWing Sports Management client final against Johanna Konta at the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem.
Sixth-seeded Greek Sakkari battled back to beat seventh seed Konta 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, over one hour and 57 minutes, in the Rabat final.
Sakkari, appearing in her second WTA Tour final (also 2018 San Jose), beat defending champion Elise Mertens and eighth seed Alison Van Uytvanck during the week and will now jump into the Top 50 of the WTA Rankings.
Her British opponent, Konta, had been competing in her first WTA Tour final since June 2018 at Nottingham.
