Mikael Ymer Takes First ATP Challenger Title

NOUMÉA, January 7, 2019

Mikael Ymer has clinched his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour by lifting the trophy of the Internationaux BNP Nouovelle Caledonie in Nouméa. The 20-year-old from Sweden defeated defending champion Noah Rubin from the United States 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

Ymer broke the No. 3 seed’s serve four times and won 59 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 22 minutes. Ymer earns $10,800 in prize money as well as 90 ATP-Ranking points.
