WTA Tournament In Gstaad To Be Relocated To Lausanne In 2019

LAUSANNE, December 18, 2018

Organizers of the “Ladies Championship Gstaad” announced on Monday that the WTA International event will be relocated to Lausanne. The inaugural “Ladies Open Lausanne” will be held at the Tennis Club Stade-Lausanne from July 13 to 21, 2019.

After three events in Gstaad, the Grand Chelem Event AG, owner of the tournament rights, has decided to give the clay-court event a fresh start at a new venue.

Tournament Director Jeff Collet said: “After a careful analysis of different options we came to the conclusion that we find optimal conditions in Lausanne. The city of Lausanne with its rich experience in hosting big events have convinced us that it is the best solution.”

Lausanne is a city in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, the capital and biggest city of the canton of Vaud. The city is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. The tournament’s ambassador Timea Bacsinszky has already to announced to compete in the first edition of the event.
