Hottest Aussie Acts Lining Up For Australian Open 2019

Aussie music stalwarts Birds of TokyoJet and You Am I are just some of the big-name local acts confirmed for the AO Live Stage at Australian Open 2019, Tennis Australia and Mushroom Events announced today.

Hit makers Ball Park MusicConrad Sewell and The Teskey Brothers will also make their AO Live Stage debuts in January.

The big Aussie line-up will join already announced international acts Bastille and Craig David, and fellow Aussies Angus & Julia Stone and Dean Lewisas follows:

Wednesday 16 January: The Teskey Brothers

Thursday 17 January Bastille and Nicole Millar

Friday 18 January: You Am I and Jebediah

Tuesday 22 January: Ball Park Music and Bec Sandridge

Thursday 24 January: Birds of Tokyo and Last Dinosaurs

Friday 25 January Craig David and Yo Mafia

Saturday 26 January Angus & Julia Stone and Alex Lahey

Melbourne band Jet said they can’t wait to return to their home town and perform again.

“We’re thrilled to be playing the Australian Open, easily the slammingest Grand Slam of them all!” the band said.

ARIA Award winning singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell is looking forward to stepping out on stage at Melbourne Park on the first Tuesday of the tournament.

“I can’t wait to perform on the AO Live Stage at the Australian Open,” Sewell said.

“This year has been huge for me, and I’m very excited to start kick off 2019 with the Australian Open – it’s going to be a great gig.”

Perth band Birds of Tokyo are looking forward to returning to Melbourne on the AO Live Stage.

“We’re stoked to be back in Melbourne to play at such a huge gig on the AO Live stage at the Australian Open,” Birds Of Tokyo member Ian Kenny said.

“There’s always an incredible vibe at the tennis, it’s a great time of year in Melbourne and the weather is perfect.

“We’re excited to play our new tracks along with all our favs! See you there peeps.”

Australian Open Tournament Director CEO Craig Tiley is delighted with the impressive line-up and is looking forward to another great event this summer.

“Music and the AO Live Stage is now part of the whole Australian Open entertainment experience. The line-up we’ve assembled for 2019 with the help of Mushroom Events is shaping up brilliantly and there’s something for everyone.”

CEO of Mushroom Events Michael Gudinski praised the all Australian line-up announcement.

“The latest AO Live Stage line-up announcement is full of incredible Australian artists, showcasing just how many more than ever great Australian artists there are,” Michael Gudinski said.

“Our team at Mushroom Events have worked very hard alongside the Australian Open to produce an incredible line-up for tennis fans. 

“After 15 days of music at the Australian Open it will be wonderful to see Melbourne band Jet back on stage where they belong, celebrating what will be a wonderful couple of weeks at Melbourne Park.

More exciting names will be added to the AO Live Stage roster over the coming weeks.

The popular Cooper’s Saturday will return in 2019, with the artist line-up to be named soon.

The AO Live Stage will be presented by Canadian Club on November 24.

With 15 days of music, the AO Live Stage, during the Australian Open, is fast becoming known as one of the most comprehensive music festivals in Australia.

The AO Live stage is situated at the middle terrace of Birrarung Marr and for the first time will feature a purpose-built shade structure, further enhancing the experience for music and tennis fans.

Fans can access the AO Live Stage by simply purchasing a ground pass of an Australian Open stadium ticket.
